This page is dedicated to Minnesota Vikings Tailgating and tailgating in general. Each week of the season if we travel to a home game we will put up pictures of the days tailgating activities in the Vikings Tailgating lots next to the Metrodome. From this page you can also access a map to the Metrodome, directions to the various tailgating locations in Minneapolis, links to other tailgating websites, and links to pictures of all the tailgates we have attended this year.

VIKINGS BRING TAILGATING BACK DOWNTOWN: The Vikings are very excited to announce that we are bringing tailgating back to Vikings fans! Beginning on September 9 at the home opener vs. the Atlanta Falcons, Vikings fans will have a new opportunity to enjoy Vikings game day just a chip shot field goal from the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis. The Vikings Purple and Gold tailgate lots will return tailgating to its proper place, at the doorstep of the Metrodome (see map below). Along with many tailgating amenities, visits from the Vikings cheerleaders, the Vikings Street Team and other special guests will truly make your tailgating experience second to none. At $280 per space for the entire regular season, you will receive parking in close proximity to the Metrodome along with all of the Vikings tailgating amenities including:
easily accessible restrooms
garbage cans
a secured lot and charcoal bins for easy cleanup
Directions to Vikings Tailgate Lots
Purple Tailgate 1 - 700 4th Street South, Purple Tailgate 2 - 301 Portland Avenue, Gold Tailgate 1 - 500 4th Street South, and Gold Tailgate 2 - 501 4th Street South. Tailgating is allowed and encouraged on all four lots, however only Gold Tailgate 1 lot is designed to accommodate RV’s or oversized vehicles. All four lots are adjacent to and/or very close the Metrodome.
From the East : Traveling westbound on I-94, take the 5th Street exit into downtown Minneapolis. Proceed down 5th Street where, at Park Avenue, take a right and the parking will be up one block
From the North : Due to the I-35W bridge closure, please visit www.dot.state.mn.us for the most recent detour directions and information.
From the West : Traveling eastbound on Highway 12 as it becomes I-394 east, take the 6th street exit into downtown Minneapolis. Proceed down 6th street through downtown Minneapolis. At 5th Avenue South take a left. Proceed to 4th Street South and take a right.
From the South : Traveling northbound on I-35W, take the 5th avenue exit into downtown Minneapolis. Proceed down 5th Avenue to 4th Street. Parking lots are on the right.
From the Northwest : Traveling eastbound on I-94, take the 4th Street exit into downtown Minneapolis. Proceed down 4th Street through downtown Minneapolis to 5th Avenue. Parking ramps are located across 5th Avenue at Portland & Park.
From the Southeast : Traveling northbound on Highway 52/55, take I-494 west-bound to I-35W. Proceed north on I-35W and exit on 5th Avenue into downtown Minneapolis. Follow 5th Avenue to 6th Street. Parking ramps are on 6th Street, at 5th Avenue and Park Avenue.
